Look Closer

2020

Granite, the archetypical stone is found in nearly every urban environment and it rarely gets the attention it deserves. With this piece I wanted to put the everyday stone into spotlight. I’ve long dreamt of using granite in my works. The original idea was born when I was experimenting with molten glass on top of stone, which in turn made the glass look like melting ice. The magnifying glass is on top of the granite, showing minute details on the surface of the stone.

Jewellery collection consists of one of a kind Luna necklace, Look Closer pendant and Shimmer ring

Materials:
Melted glass, silver, brass, Finnish granite
Glassblowers: Orcum Erdem, Miia Lötjönen
